Best time: May to September
Timing: 6 days Trek
Grade: moderate

An extension to the traditional Santa Cruz Trek. From the Huaripampa valley we continue on to a high campsite at Avalanche Place, then cross the spectacular Punta Yanayacu pass (4850m) and finish our trek in the beautiful Ulta ravine, close to Huascaran.

The trek starts at Cashapampa village and goes into the heart of the Cordillera Blanca and very close to its most spectacular mountain capped peaks including Alpamayo, Chacraraju, Taulliraju and the Contrahiervas range. We’ll cross two high passes, first the Punta Union (4750m) and then Punta Yanayacu (4850m), no more than a notch in a rocky ridge, past which we’ll see Chopicalqui, one of the highest peaks in Peru.
