TIMING: 3
/ 4 days
GRADE: Medium
Pisco is an excellent choice for first time mountaineers
and as an acclimatisation peak for climbers going
on to the higher Peruvian peaks. For keen trekkers
and people acclimatised and with no, or limited,
experience on snow and ice, this is a must.
This 4 day guided climbing trip is surrounded by
beautiful high mintas like Huascaran, Huandoy, chopicalqui
and from the top you have a tremendous view of the
chacraraju.
Before to attempt Pisco we suggest that you should
trek 4 days minimum for a good acclimatisation and
fitness.
Día 1: Huaraz
- Cebollapampa - Pisco base Camp
We drive from Huaraz to Cebollapampa. Then
our gear is loaded onto the donkeys and we
climb on a good path to Pisco Base Camp (4650m).
There is a Refugio there where you can buy
beer, and wine. |

Día 2: Pisco campo base –
Moraine camp

cannot come this way. we need to carry all

clothes and sleeping bag, and help to carry
the tents and food would be appreciated. |
Día 3:
Summit Day
We climb 40 minutes on moraine until we
reach the glacier where we put on crampons
and rope up. About 5 hours to the summit.
There is a short steep section of around
4m of steep section. The rest of the way
is not very steep or difficult.
From the summit we have fantastic close
views of Huascarán (6768m), Chopicalqui
(6354m), Huandoy (6160m), Pirámide
(5885m), Artesonraju (6025m). Then we descend
